Proven Benefits to Patients:
One of the biggest takeaways from the LITE Study is that patients can achieve the same high level of skin clearance and symptom relief with home phototherapy as they can with in-office treatments. The study found that patients using home phototherapy devices experienced similar rates of improvement in their psoriasis, providing clear evidence that at-home treatment can be just as effective. This means you no longer have to schedule frequent visits to a clinic to manage your skin condition—you can do it in the comfort and privacy of your own home, on your own time.

Proven Benefits to Healthcare Providers:
For healthcare providers, the LITE Study opens the door to more options when treating psoriasis patients. With home phototherapy proving to be just as effective as in-office care, providers can now offer a broader range of treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs. Additionally, home phototherapy offers patients greater convenience, which can increase adherence to treatment protocols. Instead of struggling with scheduling conflicts and time-consuming office visits, patients are more likely to stick with their therapy, leading to better long-term outcomes.

Proven Benefits to Healthcare Systems:
Integrated healthcare systems can benefit from the results of the LITE Study as well. By offering home phototherapy as a viable treatment option, systems can reduce the costs associated with frequent office visits, staffing, and facility use. Additionally, home phototherapy devices are often covered by insurance, making it an accessible option for a larger population of patients. This shift could help healthcare systems manage resources more efficiently, while still providing high-quality, effective care for chronic skin conditions like psoriasis.

The Key Highlights of the LITE Study:
HOME PHOTOTHERAPY IS AS EFFECTIVE AS IN-OFFICE TREATMENTS
The LITE Study proved that Home phototherapy is highly effective for plaque and guttae psoriasis with 50% of patients seeing clear, or nearly clear skin at 12 weeks. In addition, the study also demonstrated the need for supplementary oral or biological treatments decreased.
HIGHLY ADAPTABLE ACROSS A WIDE VARIETY OF SKIN TYPES
The LITE Study encompassed a variety of skin types and proved that phototherapy is effective across all skin types with the highest efficacy shown with skin type V & VI.
REDUCED OUT-OF-POCKET EXPENSES
In a majority of cases, home phototherapy negated the need for supplemental treatments and therefore greatly reduced out-of-pocket expenses for patients – resulting in higher patient satisfaction.
CONVENIENCE AND COST SAVINGS
On average, a typical in-office treatment entailed ~1 hour of travel to and from and approximately $20 in travel expenses – home phototherapy allows the patient to be treated in their home and at a time most convenient for them
SUCCESS THROUGH TECHNOLOGY
Utilizing Daavlin’s ClearLink Controller with Guided Mode, patients were presented with a series of questions related to their treatment status; the answers to these questions refined the next treatment – thereby simplifying the process for the patient and eliminating the potential for misuse while also providing treatment visibility for the provider.
“Adding phototherapy to the mix can really help us maintain response, help people, and get to the ultimate objective we are trying to achieve for them.
– Joel Gelfand, M.D.
