Narrowband UVB therapy is an ideal first line treatment that’s safe for pregnant women3, children2, the elderly1, and immunocompromised patients4.
Safe & effective
Trusted by leading providers
Unrivaled safety profile
Narrowband UVB therapy doesn’t include harmful UV rays associated with the sun or tanning beds, creating a powerful treatment option while minimizing long-term risks.
Research has also shown that narrowband UVB therapy has no significant association with malignant melanoma.7
Industry leading effectiveness
For psoriasis, narrowband phototherapy has a proven median clearance time of only 7-10 weeks5.
Meanwhile, phototherapy’s minimal side effect profile makes it a safer alternative to many systemic and oral medications.
Clinically proven
For decades, clinical study data has shown consistently high rates of clearance (95.1% clearance5) for both PUVA and narrowband UVB therapy, with many patients reaching PASI 75 weeks earlier than the leading biologics.5
Improves patient adherence
In a randomized clinical trial, home phototherapy was found to be equivalent to in-office treatment in efficacy and safety, with 3x superior adherence rates for home treatment.
Covered by insurance
Most major insurance providers cover phototherapy and UVB therapy for psoriasis and dermatitis.

Phototherapy, also known as light therapy, is a medical treatment that involves exposing a person to specific wavelengths of light to treat various health conditions. Different types of light, such as ultraviolet (UV), visible, or infrared light, can be used for phototherapy, depending on the condition being treated. Phototherapy works by influencing biological processes in the body through light absorption. The light energy is absorbed by T-11 helper cells and tissues, which can lead to various therapeutic effects.
Narrowband UVB (Ultraviolet B) phototherapy is a type of phototherapy that uses a specific range of ultraviolet light wavelengths to treat various skin conditions. It involves exposing the skin to artificial light with a specific narrow band of wavelengths, typically around 311 to 313 nanometers.
Compared to broad-spectrum UVB light, narrowband UVB has been found to be more effective in treating certain skin disorders while minimizing potential side effects like sunburn or skin damage. It has become a preferred choice in many dermatological treatments due to its targeted approach and reduced exposure time.
During a narrowband UVB phototherapy session, the affected skin areas are exposed to the specialized UVB light for a controlled duration. Treatment frequency and duration are determined based on the patient’s skin condition, response to treatment, and skin sensitivity.
Narrowband UVB phototherapy is commonly used to treat skin conditions such as psoriasis, vitiligo, eczema, and some types of dermatitis. The narrowband UVB light is known to have therapeutic effects on these skin conditions by slowing down the rapid growth of skin cells, reducing inflammation, and promoting the healing of affected areas.
Every insurance carrier has specific medical policy criteria that needs to be met. It’s important for your patients to contact their insurance provider directly to understand the specifics of their coverage. Insurance providers can provide information about whether in-office or home phototherapy is covered under their plan, what documentation may be needed, and any associated costs.
As a prescriber, you have the flexibility to choose between at-home or in-office treatments for your patients. At-home treatments are ideal for patients for whom in-office visits are a barrier to accessing treatment. In-office treatments are ideal for those who have convenient access to their treatment center and/or may need initial support and guidance as they begin treatments.
